MISSION STATEMENT: The Southwest DeKalb High School counseling program provides guidance in the areas of academic, career and personal social development. This enables all students to experience educational and Post-Secondary success. It is the goal of the Southwest DeKalb Counseling team to ensure that all students become effective learners, responsible citizens, and productive members of an ever changing global workforce.

Fee Waivers

Students who qualify for SAT/ACT/College Board Fee Waivers may sign up in the counseling Office to request these documents. Eligible students may pick up their fee waivers Fridays in the Counseling during their lunch wave ONLY. Fee Waivers will not be delivered or mailed. Students are only eligible for two (2) ACT and four (4) College Board Fee Waivers in their lifetime. Fee Waivers are not accepted after the Registration Deadline for any particular test date, but are valid for the duration of the 2015-2016 school year. Lost/destroyed Fee Waivers cannot be replaced. Limited quantities available.

Senior Conference
 Mr. Demmons is available for Parent/Senior Conferences.
Go to www.myconferencetime.com/swdhs to schedule
your 30 minute Student Conference.
Students need to already be in the counseling center at their designated time.
Parental involvement is required during the conference either in person or phone.
 
 
Junior Conference
Ms. Fontanez is available for Parent/Junior Conferences.

Sophomore Conference

    What are Credits/Units?
    A Unit or Credit is successful completion of 1 semester of a course (subject) of study.
     
    A Core Unit includes: English, Math, Science, Social Studies and World Language.
     
    For promotion to the next grade you will need:
    1. 10th Grade -- 6 Units (3 Core and 3 Elective)
    2. 11th Grade -- 12 Units (6 Core and 6 Elective)
    3. 12th Grade -- 18 Units (9 Core and 9 Elective)
    4. Graduation -- 24 units as determined by diploma type

    111048
    A CEEB code is a standardized ID number that is assigned to a high school, college, or university.  These codes are mostly used in college entrance exams such as the SAT and ACT.  Many universities have opted to use CEEB codes on their applications.
