Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) RE-TEST Information

Who is eligible to take a re-test of the GHSGT or GHSWT?

Any applicable student currently enrolled in the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) who has previously failed to meet standard in at least one area of the GHSGT or GHSWT is eligible to take a re-test. Students who have exited the DSCD with a Certificate of Performance or a Special Education Diploma are also eligible to take re-test of the GHSGT or GHSWT.

****Please note that any student who entered grade nine for the first time after July 1, 1991 through June 30, 2011, must pass the GHSGT in order to earn a high school diploma.

Who must register to take a re-test administration of the GHSGT or GHSWT? If you are no longer enrolled as a student in DSCD, you are expected to register. If you are currently enrolled as a student of DSCD you are not required to register.

Where do I report for testing? For all re-test administrations that take place during the school year in the months of September, November, and March you are to report to the high school where you are currently enrolled or where you previously exited.

How long does the testing take? It is expected that you complete the English/ELA and Math tests in 60 minutes and the Science and Social Studies tests in 90 minutes. You are allowed 100 minutes to complete the GHSWT.

**** You are allowed up to 3 hours to complete each of the GHSGT.

What should I bring with me to the testing site? You are expected to bring official picture identification (Driver’s License or Passport) and two #2 pencils. If you are taking a Math or Science GHSGT, you may bring a basic calculator. The calculators must not graph of store text. Electronic devices (cell phones, PDAs, ipods, etc.) are not permitted in the testing environment.

How do I register? Complete the GHSGT and GHSWT Registration Form on the next page and return it to the high school where you are currently enrolled or where you previously exited.
